Laser processing is one of the fastest progressing fields of technology in the world. New applications are made in the field of laser cleaning and laser-assisted 3D printing, for example. Laser cutting, welding, surfacing and marking have already gained a steady industrial footing in Finland as well. Laser welding of large objects has also been developed into an industrial method. The SHY Laserforum is a consortium of businesses and research institutes interested in laser processing. The consortium keeps up to date on global progress on laser processing and relays information on laser processing applications to its members. The annual, open to all laser progressing event has seen experts of the field and offered a massive dose of information on latest applications of laser processing.
We now offer a brand-new environment and implementation method for this event. This is partly due to the current situation with COVID-19, and partly due to the need to renew the forum’s own policies. As a result, this year’s Laser processing seminar will be implemented as three web forums. The presentations in the event are interactive recordings. While the recording plays, participants can send their questions through the social media chat, discuss on the forums or meet the speakers virtually in video conference rooms. After the recording, the speaker is available for remote meetings, and may also present a summary of their presentation.
